BadgeR+ Battery Life & Optimized Sleep Mode
What is Optimized Sleep Mode?
Optimized Sleep Mode is designed to maximize the battery lifespan of your BadgeR+ devices while ensuring consistent network connection health.
In standard operation, the device typically checks in once every 24 hours. Under Optimized Sleep Mode, if a device misses its scheduled daily check-in (e.g., due to temporary Wi-Fi coverage drop), it will automatically retry in 5 hours rather than waiting a full 24 hours. This retry logic guarantees at least one successful daily check-in without causing excessive battery drain.
Pros & Cons
- Pros:
- Extended Battery Life: Significantly reduces daily milliamp-hour (mAh) drain compared to frequent polling intervals.
- Reliable Connection Monitoring: Ensures devices re-establish connection quickly if a check-in fails, rather than staying offline for an entire day.
- Ideal for General Deployment: Best suited for environments where continuous real-time status polling is unnecessary.
- Cons:
- Delayed Offline Alerts: If a badge loses connectivity or goes missing, administrators will not see a missed check-in status until the next scheduled window.
- Not Ideal for High-Audit Environments: Facilities requiring frequent hourly device health checks will need a higher check-in frequency.
Estimated Battery Lifespan Breakdown
Battery longevity depends on the frequency of daily check-ins and the device hardware version:
| Daily Check-Ins | 2.4 GHz BadgeR+ Lifespan | Dual-Band (2.4 / 5 GHz) Lifespan |
| 96 / day (Every 15 mins) | ~22 Days | ~16 Days |
| 24 / day (Hourly) | ~68 Days | ~50 Days |
| 4 / day (Every 6 hours) | ~160 Days | ~124 Days |
| 1 / day (Optimized Sleep) | ~200 Days | ~159 Days |
Note: Lifespan estimates are based on standard operating conditions and optimized firmware settings.
