EducationShield Chrome Views: Panic-Enabled vs Panic-Disabled

When users open EducationShield Chrome, the screen may look slightly different depending on whether the Chromebook is panic-enabled or panic-disabled.

For Chromebooks with Panic Disabled

This version is used only to receive emergency notifications and does not include panic activation options.

When the Chromebook is connected to a recognized BSSID, the app will show it is Listening for messages… and display two buttons at the bottom: Refresh and View Logs.

Clicking Refresh on this view will prompt a check-in to confirm it’s connected and listening for emergency messages. Most users will never need to use this unless Support asks you to.

The View Logs button represents system activity on the Chromebook Device. No action is required from the user.

For Chromebooks with Panic Enabled

If your Chromebook supports panic activation, the app first opens to the Panic Activation screen. This is your home screen, where you can send panic alerts.

To view EducationShield Chrome activity and logs, click the arrow in the top-left corner to switch to the Status & Activity View. On this screen you’ll see Listening for messages… and two buttons at the bottom: Refresh and View Logs.

Clicking Refresh on this view will prompt a check-in to confirm it’s connected and listening for emergency messages, then simultaneously take you pack to the Panic Activation page. Most users will never need to use this button unless Support asks you to.
