How Do Geofences Work?

This article is all about Mobile Safety App Geofences

Geofences are virtual boundaries that you can place around your jurisdictions. Geofences ensure that Emergency Slider and Emergency Widget activations are routed to the correct responders. The creation and management of Geofences are fundamental to the successful implementation of your Mobile Safety App.

When a Mobile Safety App alert is triggered within the geo-fence, information will be routed based on the rules you create.

Rules

This means that when a user activates an emergency alert within the designated area, the system will automatically forward the alert to the appropriate responders or authorities. By defining specific rules for each geofence, you can ensure that the right people are notified and can take immediate action in emergency situations.

For example, if a user within a school campus geo-fence initiates an emergency alert, the system can be configured to notify the school's security team, teachers, and administrators. This enables them to respond quickly and efficiently to the situation, providing the necessary support and assistance to the person in need.

When an alert is triggered from outside a geofence, the end user will be prompted to place a phone call to 911 (for internal deployments, this can be overridden, see 'Countrywide Emergency Number' setting)

In situations where a user activates an emergency alert outside of a designated geofence, the mobile safety app will automatically prompt the user to make a phone call to the emergency number 911. This ensures that the user can quickly reach the appropriate emergency services in their region.
