Locked Location Feature — (CPB) Computer Panic Button
The Locked Location feature ensures that a Computer Panic Button (CPB) machine always reports a predefined physical location — regardless of which network it's connected to. Whether the device switches between Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or different access points, the reported location stays fixed.
This is especially important in environments where machines move between networks or access points, which can cause location data to fluctuate or report inaccurately during an emergency.
Without a locked location, a CPB machine's reported location is derived from its network connection. If a device changes networks — or if multiple access points serve the same area — the system may report different or incorrect locations. Locking the location guarantees responders always see the correct physical address, every time an alert is triggered.
How to Set a Locked Location
There are two ways to configure this feature depending on whether you're updating a single device or multiple machines at once.
Option 1 — Single Device via the Portal
- Navigate to your CPB machine list in the portal
- Click the edit icon next to the machine you want to update
- Check the "Location Locked" checkbox
- Save your changes

The machine will now report its currently assigned location for all future alerts, regardless of network changes.
Option 2 — Single or Multiple Machines via Bulk Upload
Locked locations can be set in bulk when uploading machines into the portal via spreadsheet.
- In your upload file, locate the "Location Locked" column
- Enter
truefor any machine you want to lock - Leave the column empty for machines that should continue using dynamic network-based location

ⓘ If the "Location Locked" column is left empty for a machine, the system will treat that device as unlocked and will derive its location from the network connection at the time of the alert.
Important Notes
- Locking a location does not change the assigned location — it only prevents the system from overriding it based on network data
- If a machine is physically moved to a new location, the assigned location in the portal should be manually updated to reflect the change
- This feature applies to Computer Panic Button machines only
