Screen Takeover: Customizable Audio — Setup & Admin Guide
Screen Takeover: Customizable Audio
The Customizable Audio feature for Screen Takeover allows organizations to play a custom audio alert whenever a screen takeover notification is delivered to a Windows machine. Audio plays automatically — even if the computer's sound is muted or set to silent — ensuring critical alerts are never missed.
Administrators upload a single custom audio file, set how long it plays, and the system handles the rest.
Custom Audio Upload
- Upload one custom audio file to be used across all screen takeover notifications
- Supported formats:
.aac.mp3.wav.m4a.ogg.wma
Configurable Playback Duration
- Administrators set the exact number of seconds the audio plays when a notification is triggered
- Supports both brief alert tones and longer alert sounds
Mandatory Silence Override
- Audio plays regardless of whether the computer is muted or set to silent
- Silence override is always enforced and cannot be disabled
- Guarantees critical notifications are heard without exception
Admin-Only Management
- Only users with administrative privileges can upload or manage custom audio settings
- Settings apply across the entire organization
Platform Support
- Currently supported on Windows machines only
How It Works
- An Administrator uploads a custom audio file and sets the playback duration
- A screen takeover notification is triggered and delivered to the device
- The custom audio plays automatically
- System sound and mute settings are overridden
- Audio plays for the configured duration

ⓘ Once uploaded, the custom audio will be used for all screen takeover notifications after the machine's next check-in.
Troubleshooting
Audio not playing during a screen takeover?
