Wall-Mounted Panic Alarm: Cleaning & Disinfection Guide
The 911Cellular Wall-Mounted Panic Alarm uses an STI Universal Stopper® polycarbonate enclosure with an internal panic button. Regular cleaning and low-level surface disinfection help maintain hygiene without damaging internal electronics or plastic housing.
Recommended Cleaning Process
Routine Cleaning & Disinfection:
- Dust Removal: Remove loose dust or debris with a soft cloth.
- Solution Application: Apply cleaning solution to a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Do not spray liquids directly onto the device.
- Surface Wipe: Wipe all exterior surfaces of the enclosure and exposed button components.
- Protect Electronics: Avoid allowing excess liquid to enter the enclosure or contact internal electronics.
- Contact Time: Follow the disinfectant manufacturer's recommended wet contact time, if using a disinfectant.
- Drying: Allow the enclosure and internal components to dry completely before returning the device to service.
Heavy Dirt or Grime:
- Rinse exterior surfaces with clean water.
- Wash with mild soap or detergent using a soft cloth.
- Rinse again with clean water.
- Dry with a soft cloth or chamois.
- If water enters the enclosure, ensure the interior is completely dry before reassembly or operation.

Products & Chemicals That Should Not Be Used
Do not use:
- Razor blades or scraping tools
- Abrasive pads or scouring materials
- Abrasive cleaning powders
- Strong industrial solvents unless specifically recommended by STI
- Excessive amounts of liquid inside the enclosure
- High-pressure washing
- Steam cleaning
- Immersion in liquids
Water Resistance & Contact Times
- Required Contact/Dry Time: Disinfectant contact times are not specified directly by the device manufacturer. Follow the disinfectant manufacturer's specified wet contact time and allow all surfaces to dry completely before returning the device to service. Ensure the interior is dry if moisture enters the enclosure.
- Waterproof Rating: The wall-mounted panic alarm is not waterproof. Do not submerge the enclosure or spray liquids directly into openings. Prevent water from contacting internal electronics.
Recommended Cleaning Frequency
Clean and disinfect:
- Whenever the device becomes visibly soiled.
- Following contamination with bodily fluids or other contaminants.
- As part of the facility's routine environmental cleaning schedule.
- In accordance with the healthcare facility's infection prevention policies.
