What Happens If Someone Triggers a Computer Panic Button Alert From Their Home?

This article examines how the Computer Panic Button prevents activations from off your organizations network

As laptops and remote work become increasingly common, it is vital for the Computer Panic Button software to accurately determine an individual's whereabouts. This functionality is crucial in avoiding unnecessary alerts to your security team(s) when employees are not physically on-site.

System Administrators are able to whitelist your organizations SSID (SSIDs are the name(s) of your WiFi network(s). This whitelist is maintained on the Whitelist SSID page.

Note: whitelisted SSIDs ARE case sensitive, meaning, you need to enter the SSID exactly as the network is named.

What if an alert is triggered from a WiFi network that's not whitelisted?

If an alert is triggered from a network that is not on the whitelist, the application will inform the user that they are not in a recognized location, and as a result, their alert will not be sent.

System Administrators are able to whitelist your organizations IP Range. This whitelist is maintained on the Computer Panic Button Custom Configuration page:

If a whitelist IP range is established, then alerts that are triggered from an IP that is outside of this range will be meet with the same error message as described above.

Note: If no IP range has been whitelisted, alerts from all devices connected to ethernet will reach the portal.
