What is E911 Calling?

This article contains information about how the 911Cellular system can send alerts to the 911 system

What is E911 Calling?

The 911Cellular system has the capability to initiate E911 calls, which are Robo-Calls that are automatically directed to the correct public safety answering point (PSAP) based on the address of the location where the alert was triggered.

Important note: E911 Calling is NOT available in all areas. It's critical that you check with your local PSAP before enabling this service.

What information does the PSAP operator see?

If E911 calling is supported by your PSAP, E911 calls delivered via the 911Cellular system will originate from (440) 280-0677, and contain the following information:

"A [wireless/computer] panic has been pressed at address [read address] by [name of person who triggered the alert] Emergency Type is [read incident type]".

The call back number that's displayed to PSAP dispatchers is configurable, and set on your Portal.

Configuring E911 Calling:

E911 calling is configured in 2 Steps:

  1. Configure the Security Zone
  2. Add an Emergency Response Team Member (ERT)

Step #1: Configure the Security Zone:

When creating a security zone, can you enable it for E911 Calling by:

1. Checking the 'Enable for e911' box

2312

2. Entering an address (this is the address that's used to route the E911 call to the appropriate PSAP and thus, it's a critical piece of information).

3. Entering an e911 Callback Number (this is the number PSAP dispatchers see in their call back field)

If you have successfully enabled a zone for E911, you will see a green checkbox:

11q

Step #2: Adding an Emergency Response Team Member

1. Add a first name and last name, this can be the name of your organization (in both fields). DO NOT include '911' in either the first name or last name field, doing so will block your E911 call from being delivered.

2. In the phone number area, select 'Emergency Number' and enter 911 into the field

9110

3. Change the 'Communication Preference' to Phone Call

4. Ensure you assign this ERT member to the same Security Zone that you have enabled for E911:
