What is a Watch Group?

This article explains what Watch Groups are and how to set them up.

What is a Watch Group?

A watch group is a way to segment specific groups of your Mobile Safety App users, and to apply different emergency alert rules to each group.

What are some examples of Watch Groups?

Some examples of groups that can benefit from the Watch Group feature are executives, home health providers in the healthcare industry, and bus drivers in K12 schools. As a general rule of thumb, this feature is especially useful for segments of your organization whose roles often require them to be in different physical locations than most other users.

How are Watch Groups Enabled?

Step #1: Create and populate the Watch Group(s)

System Administrators have the ability to create Watch Groups on this page: Manage Watch Groups.

Once a Watch Group is created, Mobile Safety App users can be bulk uploaded to a Watch Group (or multiple Watch Groups). To bulk upload users, simply create a CSV file containing list of email address of users who should be added to this group, and upload the file here: Manage Watch Group Members (tip: for your convenience, there's a CSV file template accessible when you click the 'Batch Upload Users' button)

Step #2: Create the Watch Group geofence(s)

System Administrators can now create geofences and assign them to a Watch Group (or multiple Watch Groups).

Once a geofence is assigned to a Watch Group, the fence is only active for members of that group. In other words, Mobile Safety App users associated with your organization who are NOT members of the Watch Group will not leverage this fence when triggering an alert.
